Do CA Parental Controls work on Macintosh PCs?
Currently, CA Parental Controls only run on Windows operating systems.
How do I block all Internet access with CA Parental Controls for only a part of the day/week?
CA Parental Controls allow you to define each user's allowed time to access the Internet. You can select the days/hours during which Internet access won't be allowed by going to the Access Time Table tab of the member, and select the time to restrict access to the Internet. You can also select a quota of browsing time, which will be counted when the user is allowed access to the Internet. During times that are allowed, the user will have filtered access to the Internet according to the policy set up for that person.
Do CA Parental Controls filter pornographic e-mails?
CA Parental Controls only restrict access to Websites. If an e-mail contains a link to a pornographic site, the site will be filtered once the link in the e-mail is clicked on. If the e-mail contains Web information that is retrieved upon opening the message, the Website content will be filtered.
How can I block/allow sites that CA Parental Controls don't block/allow?
Individual sites can be added to the Custom Site List to be blocked or allowed and override the CA Parental Control engine. The site's address can either be added as a URL or to be considered as an entire domain. This means all sub domains and internal pages of that domain will automatically be included.
Does the CA Parental Control function start automatically?
The Parental Control feature starts automatically each time your computer is started, even if the system tray icon is not there (when the product is in hidden mode). Also after a restart, the Parental Control feature is automatically running and filtering according to the Starting User settings.
How do I add more users to the Parental Control feature?
Adding users is very easy. In order to add more members or to Edit/Remove any member, complete the following steps:
1. Open the Parental Control menu and select the Preferences option.
2. Go to 'Manager Members' tab
3. Click on the Add button
4. Set the Member name and password
5. A new member is created with the Internet filtering policy inherited from the Default User.
6. You can now edit the member's settings by clicking on the member's image
7. Next, you can define this member's settings (Image, Password, Web-Filters and Access Time Table)
8. You can change the Member settings any time you like
What does Default User mean?
A Default User is a user that comes with predefined "factory" settings. The Parental Control feature starts with a Default User. This user will not be required to enter a password to log in to the Parental Control feature, and therefore should be defined with the most restrictive Internet filtering policy.
When creating a new user, the new user inherits the settings of the Default User, which can be modified. If you have more then one user in the system, you can make any of the users to be the Default User.
